MORE INFORMATION

The following information is provided by the Genigraphics Corporation:
  1. What is Genigraphics?

Genigraphics is the largest presentation graphics service network in North America. This network of over 250 graphics professionals will produce 35mm slides, color overheads, or color prints of your PowerPoint presentation overnight. They can also provide you with design services such as: customized clip art and template creations, and output to other media such as poster prints and video.
  2. Why has Microsoft PowerPoint selected Genigraphics as its slide service solution?

Genigraphics stands for dependable, high-quality service. As the world's largest network of company-owned service bureaus, Genigraphics can conveniently provide superior service to PowerPoint's wide variety of users. Service can be as personalized as you need. There's a local service center in 23 major metropolitan areas, and remote access is available to anyone, anywhere in North America.
  3. How long does it take to get slides back from Genigraphics and how much does it cost?

Price and turnaround time will vary depending on the service you need. Your local Genigraphics service center can give you exact information on any services you need. If you don't know which center to call, you can call 800-638-7348 and Genigraphics will let you know where you can get service.
  4. How do I deliver my presentation to Genigraphics?

There are two ways to deliver your presentation to Genigraphics; either electronically or on disk. To create a presentation for imaging by Genigraphics, follow these steps:
    1. In the Page Setup (Macintosh) dialog box, select the Genigraphics Driver as the target printer for your presentation and specify the appropriate page size in the Setup dialog box.
    2. Create the presentation.
    3. Print your presentation and fill in the electronic order forms that appear on your screen. If you are sending your presentation by disk, select Send Via Diskette in the Job Order dialog box and save the file to your diskette. (For an electronic transmission to Genigraphics, select Send Via Modem and go to step d.)
    4. If you are sending the file electronically, launch GraphicsLink to send the file to Genigraphics (Hayes compatible modem required). If you are sending the file by disk, simply take the file that you created on diskette to your Genigraphics service center.
  5. What fonts does Genigraphics use?

Genigraphics can image all of the 35 Apple LaserWriter fonts in any size (11 different typefaces). Genigraphics can image plain, bold, italic, bold italic, and underline styles.

To help you determine if the fonts you are using are supported by Genigraphics, the Genigraphics driver will warn you whenever a font substitution will occur.

Genigraphics can support additional fonts you may have purchased if you contact the service center you are using and make arrangements. You will have to provide the outline font and the screen font along with your presentation. Genigraphics will advise you on how to do this electronically when you contact them.
  6. If I have a Genigraphics system, how can I use it with PowerPoint?

It depends on which Genigraphics system model you have. You will have to contact your hardware sales representative (whomever you purchased the system from) in order to get specific information. (NOTE: Do not call Genigraphics service center, since that center is not responsible for your hardware - it is produced by a different company.)
  7. What if I want to use a different slide service bureau?

Some independent slide service bureaus image PowerPoint slides. However, most do not guarantee your output, as Genigraphics does. Each service bureau is different. You'll have to contact the specific service bureau directly and ask specifically how to prepare your files for imaging on their equipment.
