PPT98: Changes to Slide Master Title Text Affect Title Master (188605)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition

This article was previously published under Q188605

MORE INFORMATION

This functionality was added to PowerPoint 98 to make it easier to rapidly change the look of your presentation by synchronizing the Title and Slide Masters. You can turn off this behavior by following these steps:
  1. On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Title Master.
  2. Click the Title placeholder.
  3. Select all the text in the Title placeholder.
  4. Change some aspect of the text.
As soon as the Title placeholder on the Title Master no longer matches the Title placeholder on the Slide Master, the synchronization is disabled.

SYMPTOMS

If you add a Title Master to a presentation and then change the font, size, color, weight, or other attribute of the Title placeholder in the Slide Master, PowerPoint changes the Title placeholder of the Title Master to match.

This behavior is different from PowerPoint for Windows 95, version 7.0, where changes to the Title placeholder on the Slide Master do not affect the Title Master.
