SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition, it is possible to use a third-party automation tool such as QuicKeys or OneClick to automate tasks and to access menus. This article discusses how to receive help when you use these tools.

MORE INFORMATION

To use a third-party automation tool, you must initialize the menus by pressing OPTION+F10, and then ESC. You must initialize the menus in each Office program you use. This initialization only needs to be done once, after the program is started. For more information about using automation, click Contents And Index on the Help menu (or on the Balloon Help menu if you are using a version of the Macintosh operating system earlier than 8.0), click the Index button in Word (or whatever Office application you are using) Help, type the following text

and then click Show Topics. Select the "Use an automation tool to access Microsoft Word" topic, and click Go To. If you are unable to find the information you need, ask the Office Assistant.

For more information about using automation tools or modifying your script, click the Office Assistant, type "using automation," click Search, and then click to view "Use an automation tool to access Microsoft Word Menus."

NOTE: If the Assistant is hidden, click the Office Assistant button on the Standard toolbar. If Microsoft Help is not installed on your computer, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
