The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q188517 SUMMARY
When you create a presentation that contains texture fills, two-color
shaded fills, or preset shaded fills, and save the presentation as a
PowerPoint 4.0 presentation, the fills change.
Texture fills from either a Presentation Design template or an individual
slide convert to the default fill color of the presentation. Two-color
shaded fills convert to one-color shaded fills and preset shaded fills
convert to the default fill color of the presentation.
texture fills, two-color and preset shaded fills, and semi-transparent fills are
not supported in PowerPoint 4.0. Therefore, if you save a PowerPoint 98
presentation in PowerPoint 4.0 format, these features will not be retained.
To save a PowerPoint presentation in PowerPoint 4.0 format so that texture fills
and special shaded fills are retained, follow these steps:
- On the Format menu, click Apply Design. From the Presentation Designs
folder, select the template you want to use, and click Apply.
- On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Slide Master.
- Select the object or objects on the Slide Master that contain textured
or custom-shaded fills.
NOTE: On most of the Presentation Design templates, the graphic
elements are grouped together. If you need to change only one graphic
element, ungroup the objects. To do this, click Draw on the Drawing toolbar,
and then click Ungroup.
- On the Edit menu, click Cut.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special. In the Paste Special dialog box,
select Picture, and click OK.
- Drag the object to the position you want.
- Change the order of the objects. To do this, click Draw on the Drawing
toolbar, point to Order, and then click either Bring To Front or
Send To Back.
- On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Title Master.
- Repeat steps 3 through 8 for each fill you want to retain.
When you save your presentation in PowerPoint 4.0 format, the fill
colors should be correct.
