SYMPTOMS

When your computer restarts after you change your computer name or workgroup name while you are using the Novell NetWare Workstation Shell 4.0 and above (VLM) network client, you may be unable to access any network resources, and you may receive the following error message:
Unable to find Network Device, abort, Retry, Fail?

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, restart your computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 98.

Note that this problem only occurs when your computer restarts as part of the network client configuration process, and does not occur if you manually restart your computer.
