AUI: HomePageUrl Treats Wildcard As Literal (188310)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Site Server 3.0
This article was previously published under Q188310 SYMPTOMS
The Home Page URLs edit box on the Basic tab of the Server Manager Site
Properties window in Site Server Analysis Usage Import allows a maximum of
255 characters. An asterisk cannot be used as a wildcard character.
This creates a problem for companies whose Web presence includes numerous
home pages that can exceed this limitation.
CAUSE
The asterisk is treated as a literal; therefore, http://*.microsoft.com is
treated as the literal string "*.microsoft.com."
RESOLUTION
Obtain the following fix or wait for the next Site Server 3.0 service
pack.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0.
