Pioneer DR-UA124X CD-ROM Drive Disables IDE Port (188294)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows 98
- Microsoft Windows 95
This article was previously published under Q188294 SYMPTOMS
You may see an exclamation point in a yellow circle next to an IDE port
on the Device Manager tab in the System Properties dialog box. When this
occurs, you cannot gain access to the CD-ROM drive connected to the IDE port.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you have a Pioneer DR-UA124X CD-ROM drive
installed in your computer. The Pioneer DR-UA124X CD-ROM drive's firmware
causes this behavior to occur.
RESOLUTION
Use any text editor (such as Notepad) to open the Autoexec.bat file in the
root folder of drive C. Look for a line containing "Mscdex.exe," and then
remove the "REM" statement at the beginning of the line. Save the changes,
quit the text editor, and then restart your computer.
