SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the MSN icon on the desktop, MSN, The Microsoft Network, does not start.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you installed Windows 98 from disks.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, install MSN from an original Windows 98 CD-ROM, or contact MSN Customer Service to obtain an MSN CD-ROM. To install MSN from a Windows 98 CD-ROM, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. Click the Windows Setup tab.
  4. Click Online Services, and then click Details.
  5. Click the The Microsoft Network check box to select it, click OK, and then click OK again.
