SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to log on to a Novell NetWare server using the Novell Client32 network client, you may receive the following error message:
Login-4.20.42-870: An unknown error was returned during LOGIN's attempt to attach. Error code: 8805.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade the VINES client to the 32-bit VINES client. For information about how to do this, please contact Banyan.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is not caused by a problem in Windows 98, but may be caused by design changes in Windows 98. For more information about resolving this issue, contact the program's manufacturer.
