Plus! 98: Cannot Play Video Clip in Picture It! Express Help (188068)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to play one of the video clips in Microsoft Picture It! Express Help, you may be prompted to insert the Plus! 98 CD-ROM when the Plus! 98 CD-ROM is already in the CD-ROM drive.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you install Plus! 98 from a hard disk or over a network.

RESOLUTION

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

To resolve this issue, use Registry Editor to change the value data of the Help Media value in the following registry key
   \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Picture It! Express\InstallDest
				
to <drive>:\PIE\UAFiles, where <drive> is the letter of the CD-ROM drive.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Plus! 98, version 1.0.
