PRB: Word 97 Japanese Creates Incorrect RTF File (188008)

SYMPTOMS

An RTF file that is created using Japanese Word 97 cannot be compiled by HCW.exe, which is included in Visual C++ 4.2, Japanese version. This HCW version is 4.01.0950.

CAUSE

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, do one of the following:

  • Use the HCW 4.02.xxxx. or later version.
  • Create the RTF file using Japanese Word 95.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

This behavior is by design.
