SYMPTOMS

When you are in a chat room, you may receive the following message
System kicked <nickname> out of the chat room.
where <nickname> is your Nickname.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the System Operator used the Internet Relay Chat (IRC) "/kill <room>" command (without quotation marks) to remove the chat room from the chat server.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, enter a different chat room. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. On the Room menu, click Room List.
  2. Click a room you want to enter.
  3. Click Join Room.

MORE INFORMATION

When the "/kill <room>" command (without quotation marks) is used to remove a chat room, all of the members in the chat room are kicked out and receive the "System kicked <nickname> out of the chat room" message.
