XL97: Inserted Objects on Charts Are Not Redrawn Correctly (187934)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel 97, an object that is on a chart that is on the same worksheet as a PivotTable may not be updated when you pivot the data in the PivotTable.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when the following conditions are true:

  • You create a PivotTable.

    -and-
  • You insert a chart that is based on the data in the PivotTable on the same worksheet as the PivotTable.

    -and-
  • You insert an object in the chart.

    -and-
  • You pivot the data in the PivotTable.

WORKAROUND

To display all the objects on the chart, Microsoft Excel must redraw the active screen. To do this, click the chart or update the PivotTable (click Refresh Data on the Data menu).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows.
