FP98: Structure Out of Sync After Republishing Web (187846)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q187846 SYMPTOMS
If you republish a Web to a remote server, and the Publish Changed Pages
Only check box is selected in the Publish dialog box, only new pages that
are added to the navigation structure of the Web being published are added
to the navigation structure of the remote server.
CAUSE
With the Publish Changed Pages Only check box selected, the navigation
structure on the remote server is not compared against the local copy to
ensure that the navigation structure is the same.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, republish the entire Web. To do this, follow these
step:
- Start FrontPage Explorer.
- On the File menu, click Publish FrontPage Web.
- In the Publish FrontPage Web dialog box, click to clear the Publish
Changed Pages Only check box.
- Select the destination Web in the text box.
- Click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft FrontPage 98.
MORE INFORMATION
This behavior may be a problem only if the structure file on the remote
server has been modified. The most likely cause of this situation is when a
customer has requested that the Web Publishing Provider delete files in the
remote copy of the Web, and then the customer re-publishes the Web.
