Picture It! Express Stops Working When You Remove Picture It! (187838)

SYMPTOMS

If you remove Microsoft Picture It! version 1.0 or 2.0, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms when you use Picture It! Express:
  • You may be unable to insert, paste, or drag a Picture It! Express image onto a document.
  • You may be unable to open a Picture It! Express file by double-clicking the file.
  • The .mix and .fpx file name extensions may no longer be associated with Picture It! Express.
  • Picture It! Express may no longer be listed in the Open With dialog box.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove and then reinstall Picture It! Express. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the list of installed programs, click Microsoft Plus! 98, and then click Add/Remove.
  4. Click Add/Remove, and then click Next.
  5. In the Components To Install box, click the Picture It! Express check box to clear it.
  6. Click Next, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
  7. To reinstall Picture It! Express, repeat steps 1-4.
  8. In the Components To Install box, click the Picture It! Express check box to select it.
  9. Click Next, and then follow the instruction on the screen.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Plus! 98, version 1.0.
