FP98: Shared Borders and Theme Lost When Importing Page (187820)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q187820 SYMPTOMS
When you import a page from another Web, that page loses its shared
borders and the theme that has been applied to the original Web. Even if a
theme or a shared border has been applied to the Web, the page assumes the
theme and borders of the Web into which it has been imported.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because this setting is stored in the Web not in the
individual page. So, when the page is imported, none of the settings are
carried over.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, reapply the settings to the imported page
after you import it into the new Web. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open the page in FrontPage Editor.
- On the Format menu, click Themes.
- Click Use Selected Theme.
- Apply the theme you want.
After you have applied the theme, you will also need to restore your shared borders.
To restore shared borders:
- Open the _borders directory of the original Web.
- Select all files in the _borders directory. Right-click on the files and select Copy from the menu.
- Open the _borders directory of the new Web.
- Right-click inside the _borders directory of the new Web and select Paste from the menu. If you receive a message asking if you want to overwrite existing files, say yes.
- In FrontPage Editor, open a page in the new Web that should contain shared borders.
- Reapply shared borders by selecting Shared Borders from the Tools menu in FrontPage Editor.
