FP98: Link Colors Are Changed When Page Is Edited (187775)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q187775

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) document that contains a hyperlink with a custom color that you created in FrontPage 97, and you edit the document in FrontPage 98 Editor, the hyperlink colors for the page may change to the default color.

CAUSE

FrontPage Editor attempts to merge and reorder the tags to keep the HTML document as small as possible. If you format the hyperlink color by using the Font dialog box instead of using the Page Properties dialog box, FrontPage rearranges the HTML of the hyperlink.

NOTE: This changes the color of the hyperlink to a different color.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the FrontPage 98b binary patch.

You can obtain the update at the following Microsoft World Wide Web site:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft FrontPage listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in the Microsoft FrontPage 98b patch.
