SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade Microsoft Windows 95 to Windows 98, you may be unable to access your Philips CDD200 CD-R or Hewlett-Packard 4020i CD-R CD-ROM drive.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if Corel CD Creator 2.0 is installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods:
  • Use a different program, such as the latest version of Adaptec Easy CD Pro, to gain access to your CD-ROM drive.

  • Contact Philips or Hewlett-Packard to inquire about the availability of updated firmware.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is not caused by a problem in Windows 98, but may be caused by design changes in Windows 98. For more information about resolving this issue, contact the program's manufacturer.
