Protocol Changed to TCP/IP After Upgrading to Windows 98 (187677)

After you upgrade a Microsoft Windows 3.1x-based computer running the
NetBEUI or IPX/SPX protocol to Windows 98, these protocols may be missing
from the list of installed network components, and the Transmission
Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) may now be installed.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, reinstall any missing protocol you want to use.
To do so, use the following steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then
double-click Network.
- Click Add, click Protocol, and then click Add.
- Click Microsoft, click the protocol you want to add, and then click OK.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add any other protocols you want, and then
click OK.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows 98.
