SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade a Microsoft Windows 3.1x-based computer running the NetBEUI or IPX/SPX protocol to Windows 98, these protocols may be missing from the list of installed network components, and the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) may now be installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, reinstall any missing protocol you want to use. To do so, use the following steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network.
  2. Click Add, click Protocol, and then click Add.
  3. Click Microsoft, click the protocol you want to add, and then click OK.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to add any other protocols you want, and then click OK.

STATUS
