WD98: Can't Run AutoUpdate Installer: Default Location Could Not Be Found (187586)

SYMPTOMS

After you download the Microsoft Word 98 Internet Assistant, when you double-click the AutoUpdate Installer, you receive the following error message:
The default location required for this install could not be found. This install will be cancelled.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you have renamed your Microsoft Word 98 program icon to something other than "Microsoft Word."

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, rename your Microsoft Word 98 program icon back to the default of Microsoft Word.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
