Microsoft Fax Does Not Appear in Add/Remove Programs (187549)

This article was previously published under Q187549 SYMPTOMS When you click the Windows Setup tab or the
Install/Uninstall tab in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel, you may
not see any of the following programs: - Microsoft Fax
- Microsoft Exchange
- Microsoft Windows Messaging
- Microsoft Mail
CAUSE This behavior can occur if the programs listed in the
"Symptoms" section are not installed when you upgrade Microsoft Windows 95 or
Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.1x to Windows 98. RESOLUTION If you need to install Windows Messaging, Microsoft Fax, or
a Microsoft Mail workgroup post office, follow the steps below.
NOTE: If you are using Microsoft Outlook 97 or Microsoft Outlook 98 and you
want to install Microsoft Fax, you must uninstall Outlook, install Microsoft
Fax, and then reinstall Outlook. For more information, please see the following

- Place your Windows 98 CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive, and then
open the following folder:
Tools\Oldwin95\Message\US
- Double-click the Wms.exe file to install Windows Messaging
and the Microsoft Mail workgroup post office utility.
- Double-click the Awfax.exe file to install Microsoft Fax.
- Restart your computer when you are prompted to do
so.
