OL98: Start Time of Recurring Appointments in a Restricted Collection Is Incorrect for Shared Folder (187482)

SYMPTOMS

The Microsoft Outlook 98 Object Model shows the date of recurring appointments to be the same as the date of the parent appointment.

CAUSE

The Outlook Object Model requires edit permission along with read permission to get the properties of the recurring appointments. If only read permission is applied, the object model can't get to the properties of the recurring appointments.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has a fix available for download. To obtain this fix, please go to the following Microsoft Office Update Web site: This problem will also be corrected in future versions of Outlook.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98.

A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.

This problem is fixed in Microsoft Outlook 2000.
