OL97: Sample Applications Forms on Exchange Server CD Cause Outlook to Hang (187472)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 97

This article was previously published under Q187472

SYMPTOMS

If you use the 16-bit Exchange Forms Designer Sample Applications forms located on the Microsoft Outlook 8.03 compact disc, or the Microsoft Exchange Server version 4.0 or 5.0 discs, or any other 16-bit form, and you attempt to close one of the forms or delete an open item created from one of these forms, Microsoft Outlook 97 hangs. You must be running Outlook on Microsoft Windows NT for this to occur.

CAUSE

When the form is closed or the item is deleted, it waits for Outlook to release its handles to the form's resources. Outlook never releases the handles so the form appears to hang.
