SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to use Picture It! Express to view Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) files created using Visioneer Paperport software version 5.0, you receive the following error message:

Cannot open picture filename.jpg.

Picture It! Cannot open the file. This file is either not a recognized picture format or an invalid picture file. If the problem persists, the file may be damaged or it may be in a format that Picture It! does not recognize.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, view the JPEG files using the Paint utility included with Microsoft Windows 98.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Plus! 98, version 1.0.
