System Configuration Utility Lists Items Not in Startup Folder (187307)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q187307 SYMPTOMS
When you view the entries listed on the Startup tab of the Microsoft System
Configuration Utility tool, you might notice that not all of these entries
are located in the Startup folder.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because the entries listed on the Startup tab are
compiled from two sources, the Startup folder and the registry. There are
seven (six, if the initial Welcome screen is disabled) entries on the
Startup tab by default. All of these registry entries are added by Windows
98 Setup. Any additional entries are either added to the registry or to the
Startup folder when you install programs.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
