Windows Does Not Go Into or Resume from Standby Mode (187285)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to put Windows 98 in Standby mode by clicking Start, clicking Shut Down, clicking Stand By, and then clicking OK, Windows 98 may not go into Standby mode. If Windows 98 does go into Standby mode, you may be unable to resume from Standby mode.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using a NeoMagic 128XD video driver. This video driver is not supported in Windows 98.



This behavior can also occur if you are using a PCG-505FX notebook computer with an earlier version of the Novell client software (copyright 1997).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue if you are using a NeoMagic 128XD video driver, contact NeoMagic Technical Support to inquire about the availability of an updated driver.

To resolve this issue if you are using a PCG-505FX notebook computer with an earlier version of the Novell client software, install the latest version of Novell Client32 for Windows 98.
