The player commentary in Golf 1998 Lite may sound choppy or be cut short
even though all other sounds play properly.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use any of the following methods:
Use a Standard Mouse Pointer
Make sure you are using a standard mouse pointer in Windows. To do this,
follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click
Control Panel.
- Double-click Mouse.
- Click the Pointers tab.
- Under Scheme, click None, and then click
OK.
- Close Control Panel.
Quit All Unnecessary Programs
Quit all unnecessary programs that are running before you start Golf 1998
Lite. To do this, use the following steps:
- Restart your computer.
- While the computer restarts, press down and hold the CTRL key
until the Windows 98 Startup menu appears.
- Choose Command Prompt Only from the Startup menu, and
then press ENTER.
- Type win, and then press ENTER. As
Windows starts to load, press down and hold the SHIFT key for
the duration of Windows startup to prevent any programs from loading
automatically.
- Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Close Program dialog
box.
- Quit all programs except Explorer and Systray (which
are parts of Windows). To quit a program, click the program, and then
click End Task.
- Repeat step 6 until you have quit all programs except Explorer
and Systray.
- Disable any anti-virus or disk tool programs installed on the
computer. For information about how to disable these programs,
consult the program's printed or online documentation.
Turn Off Game Options
Turn off game options that can adversely affect the performance of your
computer. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Menu, point to Options, and then click Game
Preferences.
- Click the Game Sounds box to change the value inside the box
to No.
- Click the Shadows box to change the value inside the box to
No.
- Click the Auto Flyby box to change the value inside the box to
No.
- Click OK.
Install More RAM
Increase the amount of random access memory (RAM) installed in your
computer. To do this, consult your computer's manufacturer or
documentation.
