MacPPT: Not All Slide Titles Visible in Outline View (186735)

When viewing a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation in Outline view, some or all of the slide titles and subheadings may not appear and you may not be able to promote or collapse them. In addition, changes you make to the text layouts on the Slide Title Master and subheadings are not reflected on these slides.
CAUSE
The Slide Master or Outline view does not control text boxes that are drawn on blank slides. The slides that do not appear in Outline view were not chosen from the Slide Auto Layout options. For the Slide Master to control the other slides, and for the slide titles to appear in Outline view, the slide must follow an Auto Layout option.
RESOLUTION
Text that you manually create in a text box does not appear in Outline view. Therefore, to have the text appear, apply a slide layout, and move the text from the text box that you manually created, into a text box that the slide layout created. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the slide that displays the symptoms, click Slide Layout on the Format menu.
- In the Slide Layout dialog box, select a layout that is similar to how you want the slide to look, and click Reapply.
- Select and copy the text from a manually inserted text box, and then paste the text into one of the text boxes from the slide layout.
- Repeat step 3 for each text box.
You can move or resize the Auto Layout boxes on the slide without breaking the link to the Slide Master and outline.
