PPT97: Not All Slide Titles Visible in Outline View (186728)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 97 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q186728 SYMPTOMS
When viewing a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation in Outline view, some or all of
the slide titles and subheadings may not appear and you may not be able to
promote or collapse them. In addition, changes you make to the text layouts on
the Slide Title Master and subheadings are not reflected on these slides.
CAUSE
The Slide Master or Outline view does not control text boxes that are drawn on
blank slides. The slides that do not appear in Outline view were not chosen from
the Slide Auto Layout options. For the Slide Master to control the other slides,
and for the slide titles to appear in Outline view, the slide must follow an
Auto Layout option.
RESOLUTION
Use the Slide Auto Layouts, or apply a Slide Layout to an existing slide.
To apply an Auto Layout, follow these steps:
- On the Format menu, click Slide Layout.
- Select the text in a text box and click Cut on the Edit menu.
- Click in an Auto Layout box and click Paste on the Edit menu.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each text box.
You can move or resize the Auto Layout boxes on the slide without
breaking the link to the Master slide and outline.
STATUS
This feature is under review and will be considered for update in a
future release.
