Terminal Server Client: Logoff and Disconnect Features (186635)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition
This article was previously published under Q186635 SUMMARY
The Terminal Server Client gives you two options for ending a session:
Logoff and Disconnect.
MORE INFORMATION
LOGOFF terminates your session and returns you to your local desktop. Your
Terminal Server session is closed, and all resources are returned to the
Server.
DISCONNECT closes your Client application and returns you to your local
desktop, but leaves your session (with its applications and data) running
on the Terminal Server. If you reconnect to the Server before the
disconnection timer (defined in Connection Configuration or User Manager)
goes off, you'll return to the same desktop you had before disconnecting.
NOTE: If you run multiple sessions (at the same or at different computers)
under the same User ID, and you disconnect multiple sessions, when you
reconnect, you're given the option of which session to reconnect to.
NOTE: If you disconnect a session, you do not have the option to start a
new session under the same User ID at the same Terminal Server. You can
only reconnect to the existing session. You can, however, start a new
session as another user, or connect to a different Terminal Server.
