XL97: Blank Line Inserted into Module (186253)

When you open a Microsoft Excel workbook that contains a Visual Basic
module, a blank line is inserted at the beginning of the module.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when all of the following conditions are true:
- Your workbook contains a Visual Basic module.
-and-
- The workbook is in the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook file format.
-and-
- You open the workbook in Microsoft Excel 97.
-and-
- You continue to save the workbook in the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook
file format.
Each time you save, close, and reopen your workbook, a new blank line is
inserted at the top of the module.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Excel 2000.
