SUMMARY

When you view the Properties of a folder in Outlook, you can get an approximate size of the folder in kilobytes (KB). By default, the Folder Size button is on the General tab of the folder Properties. In some instances, you may want to remove the Folder Size button, or it may already be missing.

To either remove or replace the Folder Size button, quit Outlook, start the Registry Editor, and then locate the following key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Outlook

Add a new DWORD Value by following these steps:
  1. Click the Outlook folder to select it, and on the Edit menu, point to New, and click DWORD Value.
  2. Type ChkFldrSize, and then press ENTER.
  3. Click the ChkFldrSize icon in the right pane, and on the Edit menu, click Modify.
  4. Click Hexadecimal and type 0 in the Value Data box to disable the Folder Size button, or 1 to enable it.
  5. Click OK and close the Registry Editor.
NOTE: This feature does not work with Microsoft Outlook 97.
