PUB98: Font Sizes May Change When Saving File as HTML (186127)

This article was previously published under Q186127 SYMPTOMS
When you view a Microsoft Publisher 98 Web site by using either the Web Site
Preview or the Save As HTML command on the File menu, the font sizes appear to
have changed.
CAUSE
When converting to HTML, Publisher uses a limited number of font sizes that are
supported by HTML. Publisher converts all fonts to the closest size supported by
HTML.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, convert the text boxes to graphics by using one of
the following methods.
Method 1: If you do not need to edit the text again- Select the text box you want to convert.
- On the Edit menu, click Cut.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special. Select Picture and click OK.
The text box will be converted to a graphic and the font size will be preserved.
NOTE: After you convert the text box to a graphic, you will no longer be able to
edit the text.
Method 2: If you need to edit the text again
Position the text box so that it touches another object on the page. For
example, move the text box so that it is touching a picture frame. When you
convert the file, Publisher will convert the text box to a graphic. However, you
will still be able to edit the text in the original Publisher file.
NOTE: When two objects are touching each other, a red frame flashes around the
objects. Everything contained in that frame will be converted into a graphic
when saved or viewed as HTML. Hyperlinks will remain functional.
