The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Greetings Workshop for Windows 95 2.0 Deluxe Edition
  • Microsoft Greetings Workshop for Windows 95 1.0 Deluxe Edition

This article was previously published under Q186030

SYMPTOMS

When you save an image scanned from the Visioneer Paperport software as a jpeg file, the image may not open in Greetings Workshop. The same image saved in another format, such as a .bmp, opens successfully.

CAUSE

If a product does not meet the requirements as set forth by the Joint Photographic Export Group (JPEG) for jpeg files, the files may not be readable.

The method used by Visioneer to process jpeg files may cause the image to be unreadable by Greetings Workshop.

RESOLUTION

When you scan images from the Visioneer PaperPort to be used in Greetings Workshop, save the file as a .bmp or .tiff file type.

Visioneer is aware of the problem with jpeg files and has created a fix. Contact the manufacturer for an update to their .jpg export filter. For information about how to contact Visioneer, query in the Knowledge Base for one of the following articles:
