WD98: Cannot Use Keyboard Commands with PopUpFolder Extension (185893)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the PopUpFolder extension, version 2.0.1, you are unable to use the keyboard commands after you switch to Menu Mode. Although you can access the menu by typing the shortcut key, nothing happens when you select an item from the menu.

NOTE: To switch to Menu Mode, turn off NUM LOCK (hold down the SHIFT key and press NUM LOCK/CLEAR) and then press the PLUS SIGN on the numeric keypad.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you use Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition and the PopUpFolder extension version 2.0.1. The PopUpFolder extension is manufactured by ASD Software.

RESOLUTION

Disable the PopUpFolder extension. For additional information or to obtain an updated version of the PopUpFolder extension that is compatible with Word 98 Macintosh Edition, contact ASD Software at 909-624-2594.

  1. Hold down the SHIFT key and start or restart your computer.
  2. Start Word
  3. Perform the same steps that resulted in the original problem.
If the problem with Word is resolved, it is probably a problem with a third- party extension.
