The IntelliPoint software version 2.2 for programs that are not designed to use the IntelliPoint wheel features. The IntelliPoint software version 2.2 includes the Universal Scrolling feature. The Universal Scrolling feature provides wheel scrolling and panning functionality to programs that do not have native support for the wheel.

If you are using the IntelliPoint software version 2.2, turn on the Universal Scrolling feature to scroll in programs that do not have native support for the IntelliPoint wheel features. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. Click the Wheel tab.
  4. Under Wheel, click to select the Turn On The Wheel check box.
  5. Under Wheel Button, click to select the Turn On The Wheel Button check box.
  6. Under Universal Scrolling, click to select the Turn On Universal Scrolling check box.
  7. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
Note If you cannot scroll in a program when you enable the Universal Scrolling feature, verify that the program that you are using is not in the Exceptions For Universal Scrolling list.

To configure and use the wheel scrolling feature in IntelliPoint software version 3.0, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. Click the Wheel tab.
  4. Select the wheel settings that you want.
  5. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
  6. Open a window with active scroll bars, and then roll the wheel to scroll in the window.
To configure and use the wheel scrolling feature in IntelliPoint software version 2.x, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. Click the Wheel tab.
  4. Under Wheel, click Settings.
  5. Select the wheel settings that you want, and then click OK.
  6. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
  7. Open a window with active scroll bars, and then roll the wheel to scroll in the window.
To use the wheel panning feature, follow these steps:
  1. Open a window with active scroll bars.
  2. Press the wheel button. The pointer changes to a single arrow or multiple arrows that point in the directions that you can pan.
  3. Move the pointing device in the direction you want to pan.
  4. When you are finished panning, press the wheel button again to turn off the panning feature.
To configure and use the wheel scrolling feature in IntelliPoint software version 5.x, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mouse.
  3. Click the Buttons tab.
  4. On the Wheel Button menu, click AutoScroll.
  5. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
  6. Open a window with active scroll bars, and then roll the wheel to scroll in the window.
To use the wheel panning feature, follow these steps:
  1. Open a window with active scroll bars.
  2. Press the wheel button. The pointer changes to a single arrow or multiple arrows that point in the directions that you can pan.
  3. Move the pointing device in the direction that you want to pan.
  4. When you are finished panning, press the wheel button again to turn off the panning feature.
