STOP 0x24 in Ntfs.sys Function NTFSMoveFile() (185300)

SYMPTOMS

You may receive the following STOP message:

STOP 0x00000024(0x001901F9, 0xf743b5f8, 0xf743b434, 0xFE46C869)

The first and fourth parameters will usually match those above. The second and third parameters will vary.

CAUSE

NTFSMoveFile() is called with a very large offset that is not valid.

RESOLUTION

NTFSMoveFile() has been changed to verify the parameters passed to it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Windows NT 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.0 and Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 4.
