To remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition and reinstall the components,
follow these steps: WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk. - Remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition entries from the Registry.
- Remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Account.
- Remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Files.
- Remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Printer Driver.
- Reinstall the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition.
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, please consult your product documentation to complete these steps.
Remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Entries from the Registry- On the File menu, click Exit to quit Outlook.
- Click Start, and point to Run.
- In the Open dialogue box, type regedit, and click OK to run the Windows Registry Editor.
- Select the following subkey (click the folder in the left pane), and then click Delete on the Edit menu:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Outlook\OLFAX
- Select the following subkey (click the folder in the left pane), and then click Delete on the Edit menu:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Outlook\OLFAX
- On the Registry menu, click Exit to quit the Registry Editor.
Remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Account- On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Mail icon.
- Select Symantec WinFax Starter Edition, click Remove and then click Close.
- Click Start, point to Programs, and click Windows Explorer.
- Move all of the files in the following folder to any other directory:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Data
NOTE: Do not simply delete the files, in case you need them as a backup.

Remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Files
Verify that all fax services have quit by using the Ctrl-Alt-Del procedure and End Task on any fax Task running (such as Wfxmsrvr, Olfaxmod). Rename the following files. For example, change the file name extensions from ".dll" to ".old" or another unused extension.

NOTE: You may need to rename these files, because they are still in use. Restart to MS-DOS Mode to rename the files. Because files have been automatically removed, the files may be absent.
Remove the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Printer Driver- On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Printers.
- Right-click the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition printer driver and then click Delete on the shortcut menu. Click Yes when you receive each of the following messages:
Are you sure you want to delete the printer 'Symantec WinFax Starter Edition'.

Some files were used only for this printer and are no longer needed. Would you like to delete these files now?

When Symantec WinFax Starter Edition is installed, start Outlook and if
the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Setup Wizard does not start, close
Outlook and run Olfsetup.exe.
To run Olfsetup.exe, follow these steps:
- On the Start menu, point to Find and click Files Or Folders.
- In the Named box, type olfsetup.exe.
- In the Look In list, select your hard disk drive.
- Select the Include Subfolders check box, and then click Find Now.
- When the file name is displayed in the lower pane of the dialog box, double-click it to start the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Setup Wizard.
