The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q183922 SYMPTOMS
When you insert a symbol from one of the following typefaces, a symbol other
than the one you selected may appear.
Wingdings
Wingdings 2

CAUSE
This behavior occurs when you use a shortcut key to insert the symbol.
PowerPoint incorrectly maps a decorative or symbol font to the shortcut key. For

arrow appears instead of a (1) bullet item.

using the Symbol dialog box. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click the text box where you want to insert the symbol.
- On the Insert menu, click Symbol.
- In the Font list, select the font you want to use.
- Click the symbol you want to use and click Insert.
- Click Close.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
