XL98: Worksheet Change Event Macro Fails to Run (183846)

SYMPTOMS

When data on a worksheet is changed, a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications Change event macro that you created does not run.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:

  • You create a Change event macro that is associated with a worksheet. -and-

  • You paste data in the worksheet from the clipboard instead of typing it. -or-

  • You create a dynamic data exchange (DDE) link from another program to the worksheet.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

You can create a Visual Basic event macro that runs whenever the data on a worksheet is changed. The Change event macro runs when data is added or updated on the worksheet. However, when you paste data from another program or update data by using a DDE link, the Change event does not occur.
