XL98: Values Change When You Save in the WK3 or WK4 Format (183662)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a file that has been saved in Microsoft Excel 98 Macintosh Edition, some of the numbers and dates that appear in the spreadsheet may be incorrect.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • You open a file that has been saved in one of the following file formats in Excel 98:

    • WK4 (1-2-3)
    • WK3 (1-2-3)
    • WK3,FM3 (1-2-3)
    -and-

  • The file contains numbers that are greater than 16,385. -or-

  • The file contains dates that are later than November 9, 1944.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur with numbers and dates that are returned by formulas.
