WD98: Tabs Are Removed When You Check Spelling (183624)

SYMPTOMS

When you change the spelling of a word in the Spelling And Grammar dialog box of Microsoft Word (under Not In Dictionary) and then click Change, white space (tabs or spaces) is removed from the beginning of the sentence.

WORKAROUND

To prevent the white space from being removed from your document, do one of the following when the incorrect word is selected in the Spelling And Grammar dialog box.

Method 1: Make the Correction in the Document

To make the correction in the document, follow these steps:

  1. Click in your document and make the correction directly in the document.
  2. Click Resume to resume spell checking.

Method 2: Use a suggested word

To use a suggested word, follow these steps:

  1. Under Suggestions, select the correct spelling of the incorrectly spelled word.
  2. Click Change.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
