SUMMARY

When you run Publisher 98 for the first time, the Welcome Publisher 98 Wizard runs. This wizard presents you with three choices:
  • See a demo about new features in Publisher 98.
  • See a demo about how to use Publisher 98.
  • Start using Publisher.
After the welcome screen appears, you can only access the demos through Publisher Help. This article describes how to reset the welcome screen and run the demos from it.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it. If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair Disk (ERD).

To reset the welcome screen, modify the settings for Publisher in the Windows registry. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, click run.
  2. In the Open box, type Regedit and then click OK.
  3. Open the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Publisher\5.0\Preferences
    						
  4. In the right pane, double-click the ShowIntroductionToPublisher value.
  5. In the Value Data box in the Edit String dialog box, type 0.
  6. Click OK.
  7. On the Registry menu, click Exit.
