FP98: Verify Links Fails if Anonymous Access Disabled on IIS 4.0 (183465)

If you disable Allow Anonymous Access on Microsoft Internet Information
Server (IIS) version 4.0, you will not be able to verify links in
FrontPage
Explorer. For example, if you click Verify Hyperlinks on the Tools menu in
FrontPage Explorer, the progress meter shows zero percent. To cancel the
operation, click the Stop button or press the ESC key. In contrast, you
are
able to verify links if you are using an IIS version 3.0 server.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, use version 3.0.2.1330 or later of the Server
Extensions.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, turn on the Allow Anonymous Access option on
the IIS version 4.0 server.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
Listed at the beginning of this article.
