OL98: ErrMsg: Error Loading Office International DLL (183269)

SYMPTOMS

When you start Microsoft Outlook 98 after upgrading you may get the following error messages:
Error loading Office International DLL

-or-

Cannot load international .dll

CAUSE

There is an incorrect version of MSO97.dll and MSO7ENU.dll installed on your computer.

MORE INFORMATION

Rename MSO97.dll and MSO7ENU.dll, and then copy fresh versions of these files from the Office 97 CD-ROM and then restart your computer.

Rename the MSO97.dll and the MSO7ENU.dll Files

  1. In the\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office folder, Right click on MSO97.dll and on the shortcut menu, click Rename.
  2. Rename the file with a .old file extension.
  3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 for the file MSO7ENU.dll.

Copy MSO97.dll and MSO7ENU.dll From the Office 97 CD-ROM

  1. Open the Office 97 CD-ROM and then open the \Office folder.
  2. Copy MSO97.dll into your \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office folder.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the MSO7ENU.dll file.
  4. Restart your computer.
This problem has also been reported to occur when you install Office to a hard drive and then uninstall and reinstall Office to a different drive. In such a situation you can fix this problem by unistalling Office, removing any \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office folders or Office folders from both hard drives and then reinstalling Office.
