SYMPTOMS

When you open an e-mail message in Microsoft Outlook 2000 or in Microsoft Outlook 98, you receive one of the following error messages:
  • Error message 1
    Error getting text from message window
  • Error message 2
    Could not find any relevant PGP information in the message

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you use Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) 5.x encryption. PGP 5.x encryption does not support using Word as the e-mail editor The PGP 5.0 ReadMe contains the following text:
   Using Microsoft Word as your editor in Outlook is not currently
   supported. The Exchange/Outlook Plug-in will not be available in
   Word.

PGP 5.x installs a PGP menu. PGP 5.x also adds toolbar buttons on the Standard toolbar for messages. If you try to encrypt from the message window, you receive the following error message:
Error getting text from message window.
If you try to decrypt from the message window of a encrypted message, you receive the following error message:
Could not find any relevant PGP information in the message
