Fonts in Internet Explorer Browser Window Are Unintelligible (183099)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 for UNIX on Sun Solaris
This article was previously published under Q183099 SYMPTOMS
If you are running Internet Explorer on a Sun Solaris 2.6 workstation,
some TrueType fonts in the browser window may be unintelligible.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if a program installed on your computer causes
Type 1 TrueType fonts to be rendered improperly.
RESOLUTION
To work around this behavior, run the following command when you start
your computer:
/usr/openwin/bin/xlsfonts -o utopia-regular >/dev/null
If you are using Common Desktop Environment (CDE), add the command to
either of the following files:
/etc/dt/config/sessionetc (system wide)
~/.dt/sessions/sessionetc (per user)
NOTE: The Sessionetc file must be an executable script file, and the
/etc/dt/config/sessionetc file must be created as a copy of the
/usr/dt/config/sessionetc file.
MORE INFORMATION
If Type 1 TrueType fonts are not rendered properly, they are displayed as
being only one pixel high in every program that uses them.
