When you delete a disk-based Web that was created on the root of a hard
disk, such as the root of drive R, the entire contents of the disk drive is
erased, including hidden, system, and read-only files.
CAUSE
FrontPage converts the root drive to a FrontPage Web.
RESOLUTION
Always create a disk-based Web in a subfolder of the root of the hard disk.
To do this, follow these steps:
- Start FrontPage Explorer.
- On the File menu, click New FrontPage Web.
- In the New FrontPage Web dialog box, select the type of Web you want to create.
- Click Change.
- In the Change Location dialog box, type the path for your FrontPage Web by using this syntax
where <x> represents the disk drive where you want the FrontPage Web created and <Webname>
is the subfolder.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- If you are prompted to create the directory, click Yes.
- If you are prompted to convert the folder to a FrontPage Web, click Yes.
