PRJ98: Start-to-Finish Dependency Causes Unexpected Finish Date (182272)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project 98 for Windows
This article was previously published under Q182272 SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you create a Start To Finish task dependency,
the Finish date and time for the successor task is the same as the Start
date and time for the predecessor task.
For example, Microsoft Project sets the successor task set to finish at
8:00 AM (the day that the predecessor task starts), but you expect it to
finish at 5:00 PM (the day before).
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because of the Start to Finish task dependency. The
Finish date and time of the successor is set to be the same as the Start
date and time of the predecessor.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.
