SUMMARY

This article describes how to configure Outlook Express to prompt you with a list of different Dial-Up Networking connections when you start Outlook Express. You may want to use this feature if you have multiple accounts, and you want to be able to select the correct account when you start Outlook Express. Note that this feature is not available in Outlook Express version 5.

MORE INFORMATION

To configure Outlook Express to prompt you with a list of Dial-Up Networking connections when you start Outlook Express, create an Outlook Express account for each connection to an Internet service provider you have. To do so, use the following steps:

  1. Start Outlook Express, and then click Accounts on the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Mail tab, click Add, and then click Mail.
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to provide the appropriate information about the new account.
  4. When you are prompted to choose a connection type, click Connect Using My Phone Line, and then click Next.
  5. When you are prompted to create a new dial-up connection or use an existing connection, click Use An Existing Dial-up Connection.
NOTE: If Outlook Express is configured to use a specific connection every time you start it, you do not receive the prompt to choose from other connections. To resolve this, start Outlook Express, click Options on the Tools menu, click the Dial-Up tab, click "Ask me if I would like to Dial a connection", and then click OK.
